well you'll need Windows or Linux, obviously :). Update MB bios amd drivers to the latest. Other than that I don't know.

As for part 2-video editing- I had an almost identical system, MB and CPU, and was very disappointed in it when it came to video editing/encoding. That's the main reason I have the system I have now.

Of course if you can tolerate the performance or lack their of for 6 months or so, the new dual core Athlons will drop right in your MB, thus hopefully aleveiating that problem.

Good luck.

Pentium chips are better for video editing, but what your system should do is kick arse at games.

An A64 3500+ is about like a P4 2.8 - 3.0 for MPEG4 / divx encoding, if that's what you mean. Good, but nowhere near a P4 3.4 - 3.6. MPEG2 / DVD requires much less CPU power than MPEG4 so the difference is less noticeable.

Games are the exact opposite, the A64 is much, much faster than the P4. An A64 3200+ is faster than a P4 3.6 in most newer games.

AMD are best for games but does it mean you can't play games on Intel...huh...same as that you can do video encoding on AMD just that it'll take a bit longer on AMD to encode than on an Intel...go on tomshardware and you can see Intel's advantage is not that much anymore in video encoding...

I think we should be discussing what drivers sunliv needs, not that intel better for video editing.

For your Video Card

Your Asus motherboard should of come with a driver CD. I assume you're using onboard sound since you didn't list a sound card. The Nvidia site should have the latest chipset drivers also.

but if you want to check if you have latest drivers, here you go
Asus drivers

I believe there are some Nvidia tools for Overclocking the video card etc.
