What slang term/word do you dislike the most?

You people are just scerd of the new slang. I mean was old slang any better, how come no one is talking about when people used to say boss, or fly. And some slang will always be around like "cool". I find it more annoying when people say "like for every other word, or "you know" which is similar to "you know what I mean" and "see what I'm sayin" It's just slang deal with it people, "it's all good" as long as it stays in our speech, it is only a problem when it infiltrates our written language.

I don't mind the slang so much as I mind the fact that younger people aren't learning the actual english. I know people who never say "I'm sorry" or "pardon me", rather, "yo" and "ma bad" or "skuze" and don't even consider them part of normal conversation. I hate being told I speak weird for speaking english.

It annoys me no end when people use the word 'like' in every single sentence that comes out of their mouth. I used to keep track of a very bad offender in one of my English classes. I figure the girl answered 2 or 3 questions per class - she averaged about 60 'likes' per class. This wasn't just regular usage of the word, but she threw in 'like' every 2 seconds instead of just pausing like regular people do.

Annoys the living heck out of me.

And yes, I was very bored in that class.

When somebody refers to one of their friends as their "girl" or their "boy" that's so annoying. So is the term dawg. What ever happened to friend? As in that is my friend.

"my bad"

if you need to apologize for something, at least make it clear that you are

that's been near the top of my list for at least 10 years. i can't stand that one!

Worst thing is that half the people here seem to use it.

People who say "Tight"....It really annoys me, especially so when they stretch it out "Tiiiiiigggggghhhhhhtttt" I wanna strangle my roommate every time he says that. UGH.

Yeah I was over at one of my friends apartment the other day and their was this guy there that was playing PS2 and he must have said tight like 20 times in 5 minutes.

The only ones that really piss me off are a couple of slang terms for female body parts.

For some reason they just really grate on me.

Viper GTS

Not really slang, but butchery... 😀

"axe" instead of "ask" or "axed" for "asked"

"pacific" instead of "specific"

"bling bling"
"slamin' "

Slamin'? That sounds like something someone would say in a SNL sketch. Do people actually use phrases like that in real life?

These may not be used so much anymore, but I dislike "trou", for trousers and "thou", for thousand.

I also dislike when words are misappropriated, such as "monokini" and "workaholic".
Also, as mentioned, "you know"and "like".

when every other sentence ends in "you know"

my roomate is a loud phone talker and everyday i have to listen to the same gossip repeated 3-4 times with "you know" tabbed at the end of all her sentences...

........

saying "you know" every other word is like saying "i am too ignorant / lazy to explain what I mean, so i will just use these words as a filler for thinking"

never thought of it that way, but it makes sense you know??! ... sorry had to do it 🙂

Ah, someone who feels the same way.

The correct response to "you know" is:

"No, I fvcking don't know. That is why I asked you!"
