We just got some engineered hardwood floor installed and we got a large area rug to put in it that will have a coffee table and couch on top of it. The carpet is 7'7 x 10'6.
Would a 7' x 10' rug pad be good enough for this? Or should I step up to the 8' x 11' pad and then just gut it to be a tad smaller than our rug is?
I am not sure if the 3-3.5 inches hanging off of each side of the rug would be okay if I go with the 7x10 size. I figure it won't slide or anything but I wasn't sure if the carpet could scratch the wood around the edges if we don't get a pad that covers most of the rug area.
I'm a rug noob so sorry if this is a dumb question. And this is the type of pad I'm looking at right now.
