what size PS for a TBIRD

Well what size PS should i buy for my new 1 gig TBIRD AXIA I plan on OC soon and will have a CD and Burner and two HD's max. Running a MX2 dual head vid card and 512 mb memory so what size should i go for, will 300watt cut it or do i need more

300W should be fine. I'm running all that and more on a 300W and I'm experiencing some problems, but I think it's more to blame on my vid card and not the PSU.

On the other hand, if you're putting a sweet system together, what's another $75 to get a 400+W PSU and not worry about it.

Obvioulsy more is better, I've got a ton running on my 300 without any problems. A friend of mine has got a TBird 1200 running on his 250W power supply without any problems, but I'd recomend getting at least 300.

Quality of the PS is perhaps even more important that the rated watts--I'll take a 300 watt Sparkle, Enermax or PC Power & Cooling any day of the week over some no-name 400W unit. Wattage is really kind of overated--clean, consistent juice is more important that the nominal wattage. You're not buying a hair dryer, after all. A quality 300W unit will power your system with no problem.

My case came with a 250W and I'm running an Asus A7V133, a 1.33Ghz AMD, GeForce2 Pro 256M PC133, a sound card and a network card. I was able to overclock to 1424Mhz until I added the ThermoEngine Pro fan from www.3dcool.com. At that point it wasn't even stable at 1400Mhz. I bought a 400W power supply from a local shop and now it's humming smoothly at 1500Mhz. Obviously it made a difference. I do have 2 case fans which draw a little current I guess.

I would get at least a 300W power supply, and more definitely wouldn't hurt. 😉

I would get a 350w PS just in case 300w isn't enough. I would get a 400w if you are running a lot of components.
