what size of fans does the antec SX 830 case use

80mm. but someone here fitted a 92mm somehow. i have an sx830 and sx1030 lying around empty...but those fans that came with it suck. they're not ball bearing fans...it's sleeve.

Casemodders can make anything fit anywhere, almost. It's just a question of feeling that it's worth the investment in tools, skills, time, mistakes and cut fingers to make it the way you want.

The stock Antec fans aren't bad at all, really. Sleeve bearings have come a long way. Some of the best fans, panaflos, use advanced sleeve bearing technology called hydro-wave bearings. Good ball-bearing fans are widely available for under $10 each from outfits like 2cooltek..

I have put two panaflo 92mm fans into the front of my SX1030. They fit very nicely. The top 92 actually fits inside the lower drive cage. Just remove the purple plastic fan mount and bolt the fan to the front of your case (that's after you cut the front of the case for the 92mm fan). The drive cage just slips over and locks into place.I think that your 830 has one less drive cage so it should be less of a hassle to install the larger fans.

i'm thinkin of getting this case, i currently bought ks282
it has room for a fan at the rear, except it didn't come w/ a holder, would i use nuts to screw it on?

Yeh, that's one way. #6x32x1-1/4" pan head machine screws, nuts and lockwashers, or nylock nuts if you can find them. If you are ordering a fan online, most vendors sell self-tapping fan screws really cheap, they work great. It's not worth the shipping and handling to order the separately, though, 2cooltek only wants $0.25 for a set.
