That's a freaking joke.. 13 x 10? Wow. That's like smaller than my apartment bedroom..... I think you should stick with 30" tops.. Anything larger I don't think you have enough room to really enjoy it.

Huh? I would not want to be sitting much more than 8-10 ft from a 50" Plasma displaying HDTV. We really need to know how far the OP is going to be from the TV. I'd imagine he would be ok with a 36" LCD and could go even larger if the wallet permits.

I have a room that size, we put a 42 inch plasma in it, but ended up replacing it with a 37 inch LCD, which is just right. The plasma was moved to the garage. The room was not a bedroom though

1. How far away will you be sitting (distance from face to wall)?

2. What will be the primary use? Movies, video games, or casual television? Generally, you can get away with a smaller panel for nightly TV use, but I would recommend going larger if you intend to watch a lot of movies.

I recommend 42" if you plan on sitting 6-8 feet from the wall. Or 45-50" for 8-10 foot viewing distance.

30"??? You guys nuts?

A 17"-25" would be more than enough for that size of room.

The THX recommended viewing distance is about 1.54x the width of the display. For casual viewing, like sitcoms and news programming, you can easily get away with 2-3x the display width.

A 25" TV at 8 feet is absolutely tiny.

Buy the largest display you can comfortably afford (within reason, of course). You will get used to the size eventually and want something bigger. Why stiff yourself now?

This is for a bedroom...who wants to take that much room up? I have a 20" LCD at 15' away and it's perfect. Leave the 37" for the family room.

1.54* the width of the display? That seems... wow. Do you mean the diagonal "width" or the horizontal width? Even if diagonal, that means I shouldn't sit more than 2.5 feet from my 19" TV? A 25" TV at 8ft is not tiny, we do just fine with a 19" TV at about that distance. Soon to be upgrading to a 27". People get way too hung up on their TVs.

the only things in the room is a queen size bed and a night table. Viewing would be at abuot 7-8 feet away, but maybe i should mount it high? what do you think?

Yes, mount it high. When you are laying down, a higher viewing will be much more comfortable. It's just a bedroom TV, so I would go 20-25" LCD. If it were that distance in a living room, I'd be thinking more in the 32-40" range.

I have a 32" in the livingroom that I plan to move into the bedroom eventually. 32" seems to be about the right size for the bedroom.

Yea, it's actually 1.54x the horizontal width of the display. How far away do you sit from your computer monitor? Most are probably about 2-2.5 feet from their 19" monitors. Would you consider it unreasonable to watch TV from that distance?

The THX recommendations are geared toward watching movies. If you plan on only watching Friends or CBS World News, then who cares how big the TV is? You could easily get away with a distance 3x the width.

I have a 27" CRT that I use for casual viewing. The seating distance ranges from ~9-12 feet, depending on the seat. And, yes, I could stand to get a bigger TV. But that's what my projector is for.:)
