What side benefits have you seen from Atkins?

In addition to the obvious benefits: weight loss and improved lipid profile, I don't get heartburn anymore and very rarely get diarrhea (I used to get it all the time).

All that pricey meat means less money to spend on cake. Oh, but you can't have cake anyway can you. Well then I'll just eat enough for both of us :D

I, too, noticed less and less problems with heartburn. But, maybe that's because all of my pants are now loose-fitting! Someone at work even noticed I've lost weight (currently at about 12-13lbs in 6 weeks.)

Not tired throughout the day or when I get home.

No more cravings for sweets or junk.

Overall lower food bill (no soft drinks, chips, ice cream)

A big side effect is any thread you make on ATOT will be crapped/flamed upon heavily :D

But really, I don't get heartburn anymore, my skin isn't all dry like it used to be.

That's why I like the South Beach diet more.

- Whole grain bread and whole wheat pasta is acceptable ("good carbs")
- Coffee is acceptable
- If you eat white bread, SBD tells you to dunk it in olive oil to slow absorption of sugars.
- Your "habit cheat" food (i.e. daily bowl of ice cream) can be integrated into the diet. Ice cream is preferred to other desserts as the fat slows absorption of sugars.
- ZERO potential health risks (Atkins is healthier than no diet, but there is still argument about the long term health effects of ketosis)

That argument is a tool of vegans used to misrepresent red meat.

If God didnt want us to eat meat, he wouldnt have made it so tasty.

This is frustrating because everything causes or prevents cancer. If your worried about it, please get rid of your microwave, TV, half of the food you eat, ect ect.

Hey..here is an idea. How about stop following fad diets, and doing what you know is right? I do the things the south diet beach says (sort of) without "following" a diet. This sh!t pisses me off. You don't need to follow a "diet" that some person made to get rich.

I've lost ~40lbs and I feel great, by "following" this plan...

Please explain to me (in rational terms) why my eating/exercise habits makes you so angry. I started a thread asking pretty much just that, but I cannot seem to get a decent answer.
