What should you set your swap file/page file to for BF2?

I am using the default settings of initial 1536 and max of 4096. I have 1 GiG of RAM any suggestions on what they should be set to? I was thinking of initial = 1024 and Max=1024

Max memory usage after playing a 64 player server for me went to 1.2 GB for the overall system. I think the general rule is your page file is twice the size of your memory, so it would be 2048. Either way, you should be fine 🙂

hmm both initial and max at 2048 I'll give that a try and see what happens. What advantage might I gain in adjusting the values to 2048 as opposed to 1536 and 4096?

It seems as if there are several "general rules" for page file size... I've heard 1.5x, 2x, and 2.5x the size of your memory.

I'm no expert on page files, but I would imagine that setting the page file to any number between 1GB and 2GB should be fine for most people. Some people could probably go even lower.

yeah, I've heard all those too...I just went with the middle one 😉

It obviously does depend on your usage...if it was a small server, you'd want a much larger page file, but as a gaming computer, 1.5 - 2 gigs should be plenty.

basically just set you PF small and then set it to auto
if it needs to get bigger the pc will just ajust the size for you
