What do you like to do, generally? We go to San Diego every summer on vacation and act like tourists (my fiance's parents are from there, but we cant help it). I have to admit I went to Comic-Con last year, stayed about 4 hrs since her brother was really into it.

Anyhow, if it's open, take a tour of Petco Park. Great stadium to see. Eat at JSix in the gaslamp quarter if you're into food. San Diego's not a great food city compared to SF or Napa out there, but this place was the highlight of my trip two years ago (things can change, but I checked and it's still the same chef). I think the cheesy harbor tour on the boat is a lot of fun. The bus tour of the city is cool, especially for scouting to see where you might want to hang out later on. There are a few local breweries to tour, although I don't remember their names, but I had most of the local brews and liked them. Anthony's Grotto is a good but not spectacular place to get seafood, although most of it is fried and the interior has a diner feel to it. I thought driving up the pacific coast highway was fun, just to see the towns. Knott's Berry Farm is nearby if you like amusement parks (Disneyland is like 90 mins north too), although they got old fast for me, since I'm used to Great Adventure and Disney World. I can't remember much else right now, but just remember that San Diego's a laid back place and if you walk around the city, you'll find things to do.

Hey, hit the beach, too. San Diego's got 70 degree weather all year round. We sure don't have that in the northeast!

If you want a hell of a time and to see the best drop zone in the world, go to SkyDive San Diego and jump out of a perfectly good plane.

I think I know what I'm going to do when I'm there.

I live in San Diego and I rarely do much of anything.

Seriously, cycling up and down the coast, surfing every now and then and lots of great restaurants. We take our son to the Wild Animal Park a few times a year (we have a season pass), Lego Land and Sea World. He's only 5 so generally we just enjoy the weather and playing outdoors.

Downtown is always enjoyable and we go down there a few times a year. Gaslamp district and Seaport Village are in the downtown area. Coronado is nice. I live in North County though so that's about 40 minutes from my house on a good day.

For the best fish tacos on the planet you must go to the Brigantine. There is one overlooking the Del Mar racetrack. I highly recommend it...I stop in there on my bike every once in a while as I ride from Carlsbad to the top of Torrey Pines and back.

In no particular order:

1) Sea World
2) Wild Animal Park (I see Jules already recommended this)
3) Gaslamp district or Little Italy
4) Tour the aircraft carrier or the clipper ship (I think that's what it is); it's near downtown
5) Head to La Jolla for some nice shops, nice restaurants and a great coastal setting

Ahh, my mind is drawing a blank. I really do love San Diego though. I think you can have fun doing nothing.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to see the Chargers lose to the Patriots in person.

Thanks, I will hit the Brigantine. Is that the one on Coronado, right across from the Hotel Coronado, or am I thinking of somewhere else? If so, I've been there and had the fish tacos already, and they were delicious. If that's not it, I have to dig up what its called.
