And here I dared to dream there was more to life than work and money. Damn it....
Someone comes up with a beautiful idea like old age pensions so senior citizens don't need to rely on their children to take care of them, and then someone like you comes along and abuses it. These programs are to help people who need help. They're not there so you can be lazy.

If all of the baby boomers are lazy like this and mooch even when they don't need to, the system will eventually collapse.

Where did you get the figure of 5.7 years? According to the CIA, life expectancy in the US is 78 years. (link). That would put the payout at roughly 13 years (78-65=13).

And no you are not entitled to 15 years of unemployment benefits just because you are old. The pension is there so you won't starve to death when you're no longer able to work. If you're able bodied and choose not to work, I put you in the same category as people who are 20 and choose not to work. Able bodied is able bodied.
I nominate you to be in charge of the program. You can decide when old people are able or not. You can keep them shuffling paper, making deliveries, performing brain surgery, walking steel and whatever else until you deem them ready to live out the rest of their days unproductively.

We live in a society that is greatly concerned with fairness and equality. With that in mind, your job will also entail finding work for a legion of young people. Able bodied is able bodied after all. There is no reason children should not be producing too. I'd say at eight years old they should be able to start contributing but I'll leave that decision up to you.

I wish you luck finding jobs for young people now that the oldsters are working until they drool or drop.

Yours is a simple world comrade.

You're not getting it.......5.7 years was the median age the 8 people I was speaking about drew. ALL of them were dead within 9 years of reaching 65 years of age. Beyond that, what about all those whom pay in their whole lives only to drop dead before they even draw a penny?

Also, you are aware that the U.S. workers work more hours per year and more years than any modernized country correct?

Age has nothing to do with state or federal pensions. It's 20 years of work then a pension till you die. It's a great deal for those that started at 25, they retire at 45 and get paid for another 40 years.
