I am shipping something UPS ground that's quite large, semi-fragile and would like to leave the receiver instructions in case UPS does one of their infamous jobs on it.

What's the proper procedure?

Should they accept package, don't open, call UPS?
or
Reject package?
or
Other (such as get signature of driver as proof of damage)?

If they reject it, then it gets sent back to me, and I'm out my shipping fees right?

TIA :D

Edit- I took before pics of the package already, if that's a good precaution to take.

I would say accept as long as it's insured (pretty sure every shipment is insured up $500 automatically). Try to ship it via any other service than ups if it's fragile though. Might wanna double box it.

Unless they've changed their policy I believe that every package is insured for $100 automatically and you have to pay extra to have it insured for more. Don't remember what they charge though.

If the package is damaged, they should refuse it. If they accept it, they accept it in whatever condition it arrives in.

Bingo. If it's damaged, inspect it on the spot and check it out. Tell the UPS guy you want to file the claim right there. Don't wait. Don't accept any BS excuse they give you. You want your damned insurance ticket and you want it now. Figure the details out later.
