What should my cpu temp be on xp1800+ cpu doing seti?

It sits at 44C, is that ok?

On the other one I built that has the 1600+ running at 1133mhz it runs 37C - but it's underclocked so that's expected.

44 sounds very good.

Mine (2000+ @ 1775) sit at 51 when fully loaded (DF running)

This is with a well ventilated Antec case and PAL 8045 HSF

How do you keep it so low? Does SETI not run the cpu at 100%?

It's a wimp to keep noise levels reasonable (~32 cfm)
I'm also at Vcore = 1.85V (probably biggest contributor)

I'm not really worried about my (backside) temperature. Actually, as long as it stays below 55 with these settings and the CPU maxed at 100% 24/7 I'm pretty happy with it! I was just surprised to see Wiz reporting a temperature so low and was curious if his CPU was really 100% all the time with SETI, or if SETI ran at some lower %utilization.

Mine 1800+@1633 runs 45C but it all depends upon the way you measure the temp.

Eg. Mine TBird 1200@1350 ran 50C in my Asus A7V133, but only 44C in my Epox 8KHA+🙂

All is with a Pal 8045 with a Papst 80MM 8412NGML (19dBa). (26C case temp, 20C room temp)
I have 1 Papst 80MM 8412NGML 19dBa and 2 Papst 80MM 8412NGL 12dBa as case fans, and 1 Papst 8412NGL 12dBa in my PS.
Yes, I like Paps 😛

Wiz, your temperature sounds good, but comparing it with other peoples machines are difficult without knowing their setup.

ok, just wondering as I am trying to determine the cause of some funny activity here

I was used to weird stuff running Outlook while doing seti, but now ever stranger things are happening.

I will start a new thread with details 😉

I'm about to say the same thing, except I only have AMD rigs here right now, and I tell you.... If I cared about what mbm5 is telling me, I'd freak out because the CPU temp on my main rig fluctuates between 90 and 100 degrees celsius. It hasn't crashed once in a week, and if it dies, I'll have a 3 year warranty to fall back on(of course, my tune will change if AMD says no to me).

Kick that thing up a notch my 1600+ is running @ 1870mhz , my temp's are 37.5 (but I have a SKL800) so running that thing at around 50c to 55c should not have a problem RickD
