What should I use to clean the laptop LCD?

I bought some camera lens cleaners, they are little wet towels.

IBM says 50% alcohol and 50% water solution with a lint free cloth.

What I see the most on LCD's is dust and a soft bristled brush will take care of that. A damp soft cloth will take care of most dirt. We use Plast'n'Glass, but it is probably overkill for most users. One can literally lasts for several hundred LCD's cleanings (~375-500). You have to be careful on some of these new "glossy" LCD screens as you can rub the gloss (anti-glare coating?) off on those. I have only seen those screens in the 15" models with high resolutions.

Ohh, LCD + Ammonia = NO YUO! I've never heard this combination recommended by any LCD manufacturer, so that doesn't bode well. The only things that I've heard are safe are a) water (which, IMHO, doesn't do a very good job of cleaning) b) alcohol/water blends (never tried) and c) specially formulated cleaner.

Further to item (c), today I went and bought some Kensington Screen Cleaner. I tried it on my new T40, it worked as advertised. Took all of the oil off (which water won't do) and it seems to have kept the lint/dust off in the last few hours. (Granted, an LCD doesn't build static so it's not a dust magnet like some CRTs are, but I digress). For $5 CDN at Staples, I think it's a worthwhile investment!

alcohol and anything with ammonia is not good imho
