Drew, how new is your monitor? 60 hz is seriously low and usually gives people headaches; use the highest refresh rate possible seizure-free computing. If your monitor is decent, it should be capable of something like the following:
85 hz@800x600
85 hz@1024x768
75 hz@1280x1024
Windows should auto-set the best refresh rate for you, depending on your video card. What kind of card do you have? By the way, if you have an nVidia based card, you have to run a little utility called nVidia Refresh Rate Fix. For some reason, XP gets stuck at 60 hz monitor refresh rate at certain resolutions (this happened to me and drove me f'n crazy). Here's a link to a download page for that utility at
