What should I opt for?

Hi,

I'm going to buy a new RAM kit for my pc and according to the my budget, I have the following two options:


G-Skill F2-6400CL4D-2GBPI DDR2 800mhz with 4-4-4-12 latency

or

G-Skill F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ DDR2 800mhz with 5-5-5-15?


Would it be wiser -keeping in mind both present & future needs- to get 4GB RAM or 2GB RAM that has better performance?



One more thing- I won't be overclocking, so that's not a factor here.

You won't notice the difference in latency outside of certain benchmarks. Get the 4GB kit.

Not really, since eventually you'll move to 64-bit OS and the "lost" memory doesn't amount to much, considering how cheap DDR2 is selling for.

Not really (assuming you are replacing whatever you have in there now). 3.x GB is still better than 2.

its per Gb, not GiB or GB... aka, 8 of those 1$ chips, plus a PCB, are needed for a single 1GB module. a two GB module uses 16 of those chips.
So 32$ + extra...
