They're really not that different from each other. The size wheels you get and how much you tighten the trucks make more difference than anything.

depends on how you ride...

wheels => 50+ mm
bearings => don't matter
trucks => independents are always nice although a big heavy, but make sure they're on tight
deck => a blank will do if you're starting out, but if you're seasoned go with element or shortys

this is what i ride:

deck = enjoi, they're a bit soft but the pop's nice
bearings = pigs, i've killed more than my share of bearings so they were cheap
wheels = around 50 mm
trucks = i love grindkings, but independents aren't bad at all

when i used to skate, i'd always ride:

deck: santa cruz
trucks: thunder
bearings: sealed industrial grade stuff, from a bearing dealer, not a skate shop.. cheaper and better.
wheels: dont matter really.

ok, i ended up settling for a kryptonics logo 8.3 from dick's for $40 since i had a $16 credit there. i must say that this is an awesome board. it's been about 10 years since i last skated and this is better than any board i ever had. rides very smooth, carves like butter, and is very easy to handle.

It has to have a cool dragon or something, and different colored wheels that light up when you ride.

You can probably find them at walmart for $10
