well, i am finnaly going to go out and get either an Xbox, gamecube, or PS2. and im not sure wich i should get. Im into racing games "on n64 anyway i liked wave race, mario cart" im also into sports games, golf and football. I have heared that halo kicks ass, i like FPS games also. So i guess Im wondering what has the best game selection and wich is the best all around.

Thanks

Visited Gamestop yesterday.
I own gamecube, and they had the arcade joystick for Soul Calibur II. It felt really nice.

I'm thinking of PS2 now just because of Gran Turismo 4.

I say buy all 3.

tough decision. biggest selection is obviously ps2. what you should do is think about all the exclusive to system games, like metroid, halo, Gran Torismo 3, and figure out which ones you would want to play. Personally i've played my gamecube more than my xbox or ps2 .

if you like futuristic racers the new F-zero comes out really soon on the cube. What i like about the gamecube games is it seems they are really polished and solid, at least all the nintendo releases do.

I say Xbox because I honestly feel that it is the superior console.
- *I* prefer the Xbox "S" controllers over any other console controller
- Most cross console games that come out have the best graphics on the Xbox
- Has the most bells and whistles of any platform out there
- the hard drive is nice for moding the system, saving music and using your own music for soundtracks
- backed by microsoft so you know that it basically has unlimited funding
- Xbox live

Not to say that it doesn't have it's shortcomings...
- Probably the most limited gaming selection of the three
- Less big name "signature" games for Xbox only (No Grand Theft Auto, no Gran Turismo, No Mario Games, No Zelda Games, ect)
- Not as much 3rd party hardware available as the PS2...Gamecube suffers from this as well though

Really when it came down to it, the Xbox offered what I wanted, and felt that it was a better implemented system. I knew up front that it had a limited game selection but right now, I've got more games than I know what to do with, so that's not an issue.

If I had to rank them - I'd say Xbox, Gamecube, PS2.

thanks guys. i am NOT going to buy all three 😉 but as of right now i am kinda leaning toward the XBOX. what are the best games to get for it? what about the gamecube? games like mario golf and all that. its going to be just me playing it mainly so i dont really care about the multiplayer stuff. "once and a while my fiancee will play". is the Xbox going to be having a bunch of games comming out? or is going to continue to have a limted selection?

thanks again

Personally I'd buy a Gamecube if you don't need the CD/DVD abilities of the other two. True, there are fewer games out for GC, but they are high-quality games. PS2 has about 10 trillion Final Fantasy/Anime-alike games, which isn't always a bad thing. Here are the games I like for GC:

-Mario Sunshine: It's ok. I liked Mario 64 better
-Super Smash Brothers: Pretty identical to the one for N64. More characters, more levels
-Metroid: This is a gimme
-Zelda: I love Zelda games. Even though it looks weird, I like it. Excellent game
-Star Fox: What I've played of it I like. My roomate has this and all games above it.
-Mario Kart (11/30): I don't see how this could be bad. I mean, it's Mario Kart.
-Final Fantasy: I've heard good things about it. I don't know when it's coming out.
-Metal Gear Solid: I've heard this is coming out. I don't know, but I've heard the rumors.

So that's 8 really good games right there. I have MGS2 and FFX for my Playstation 2 and there aren't any other games that look even remotely interesting to me.

Just my $.02.

I went with Gamecube just because it had the games that I wanted to play. Metroid, Zelda, and all that.

Right now, the only reason I would get an X-Box is to play KOTOR. It just depends on which system has the games you want.

edit:
Metal Gear Solid: I've heard this is coming out. I don't know, but I've heard the rumors.
It's coming out. I don't know when, but it's real. 🙂

i will be using the DVD features of it, wich i didnt think of untill just now. I will be moving my old Apex dvd player to the bedroom. So I am thinking the XBOX. What are the best games for it that are out now?

Thanks

Well, there are rumors that the GC is dropping to $99. If the XBox stays where it is, you can get a GC and a DVD player. You'll also need a $30 adapter to play DVDs on the XBox.
