What should I get athlon 1.4 or XP 1500

If I am building a system from scratch what would be a better choice for performace verses value. Is there a big difference between the XP 1500 or 1600 and the athlon 1.4.

The benchmarks show that even the slowest AthlonXP outperforms the 1.4GHz Thunderbird. Probably due to the hardware prefetch as well as the SSE instruction set for some apps.

I'm building a new system within the month and I'm personally gonna get the XP1500 which is only a few more dollars than the fastest Thunderbird. I don't think it's cost effective for the small gain you'll get from the 1500 to the 1600.

well overall i believe there about the same speeD (especially at higher rez)

so if u can get the AThlon xp 1500 for only $20 more than the 1.4ghz i would go for the athlon xp since it runs cooler and other enhancements

remember a athlon xp 1500 is a 1.33ghz

Athlon xp 1600 is 1.4ghz

Get the XP 1500+. I got this to run at 1.5 Gz at default voltage by setting the FSB to 150. It also runs cooler the the Thunderbirds.

I think the XP1500 almost uses the same amount of power as a 1.2 GHz Thunderbird. Someone provided a link to this stuff earlier but I can't find it again... :frown:

Here's the link...aceshardware. So I guess my original guestimate was way off...
