Before we start going on about search the threads and this and that,I am looking for certain things and I dont know which will serve me better.

I owned 2 360's and both bricked on me but they were launch consoles so maybe they are better now.I loved xbox live,it worked most of the time and I barely got any lag at all.
I dont like paying the $50 a year fee for something that should be free but if it is better then psn then so be it.

I would like to watch HD movies thru the system.I do know about the blu ray player in the ps3 but can you rent hd movies thru the ps3?
I heard something about netflix. Is this MS or sony only or do both of them support this.

I hated the 360 wireless controller batteries always going dead and they seemed to lose connection alot.

I need a reliable system, something that does have games for kids on it.Something that I can some how DL HD movies on.
I dont care about the games since I will only be playing call of duty, madden and a driving game.I dont care about exclusives at all.

How does the xbox handle hd movies renting or buying thru a DL and the same with the PS3?

So basically given my situations what do you think I should get?
There is a $100 price difference between the 2.1 year of live and I am down to only $50 difference.I am thinking of going with the ps3 since it can play blu rays, charge it's own controllers and I dont need a wireless adapter.Should I go sony this time or microsoft guys?

High-quality HD movie rentals:

netflix:
- you can rent blu-rays for your PS3 -- these have several times the bitrate of downloads

Low-quality HD movie rentals:

netflix:
- 360 can stream directly if you have the $40/year Live Gold.
- for streaming to PS3 you need to have a PC do the streaming then relay it to the PS3 using something like PlayOn ($30)

- 360 marketplace has a small selection of HD rentals at $6 each. If you like netfix you might be better off just adding an extra disc to your plan.

- PS3 marketplace supposedly has some HD rentals for $4.50 each (according to Google, I haven't looked)

You see, there's this website called "Google". I think it's going to catch on, you should try it out.

Here is a list of movies available to download for the Xbox 360. HD movies cost $6 to rent.

Also throw in the 13,000+ movies from Netflix that are available for streaming. Not all of them are the latest. The earliest movies hit Netflix Watch Instantly is about the same time movies hit the movie channels. Netflix is adding more movies every week now. Netflix Watch Instantly is a minimum of $8.99 a month. Also requires Xbox Live Gold which is $40 or less for 13 months ($3.08 a month)

Here is the list of movies available to download for the PS3. HD movies cost $6 to rent.

Metacritic list of scores for Xbox 360
Metacritic list of scores for PS3

Personally, I think the 360 has a slight lead in the overall number of kid-friendly titles. But, remember that most kid-friendly titles get released multi-platform.

It's amazing how many people don't bother searching for an answer to a simple question. "Where can I learn alot of info about the ps3?" Unbelievable.

I hope you find the help that you seek, but there has been no information posted in this thread that hasn't already been offered up in many of the existing netflix/movie capability threads.

If you have Blockbuster account, get a Wii and a bluray player. Kids games, HD movies, done.
It sounds like you've made up your mind otherwise.

so you aren't certain what system "is better" for you, so you ask complete strangers what you should get?

i never understood that mentality

also, why "should" xbox live be free? because you don't want to pay for it?

seriously.. its pathetic.. the man came here for advice. quit your bitching about how he had to search for it. because sometimes searching doesnt give him the advice or info he wants. When you search, all you see is text on the screen, no one helping or prodding you in the right direction. leave the man alone.

as for the right system. have u considered buying the ps3 used? its cheaper, and the failure rate is low. seems like your leaning that way anyway. if i was able to go back id do that, get a BC one for like 350. and upgrade the HDD for another 100. i would have paid the same price i paid for my 80gb
you already know what the 360 offer's. Too be honest. they both have great games. i dont care who comes out and says ohhh fury is a hippy. because there are always better games on the other system. i went from playing GOW2 on the 360 to playing Resistance 2 on the ps3... sounds like a rant i tell you hah

get a ps3 man. my Game name is in the sig hah

I didn't know that he wanted to be prodded. Don't worry, Bman! FuryofFive is here to prod you, because he is able to see more than just "text on the screen".

It sounds like a PS3 + Netflix membership (for Blu-ray discs) is the way to go for you.

As far as kids games both consoles have the lego games which are easy to get into for most ages. You don't mention the age or sex of the kids so it's hard to say. Little Big Planet for the PS3 is a good (exclusive) kids friendly game that you might end up liking yourself.

However, for as little gaming as you claim will be done on this thing I say go for the 360 as it's cheaper and can do everything videowise (minus blu-ray discs) that the PS3 can. You can get a 360 arcade edition for $200.

I will be gaming on the console I choose to get.
ALot of people I work with own ps3's.They play madden, cod 4,and LBP.I am thinking of just getting the ps3 since I can get blu rays from blockbuster.

I see it like this
Buy a 360 for $299, buy 1 yr live $50,couple packs of good batteries for the wireless controller.Should be around $380 before tax.I cannot watch blu rays, the system has a high failure rate from what i have seen.
Buy the PS3 for $399 not pay for online, not pay for batteries,be able to watch blu rays, able to use google thru the ps3 also.

Thanks to those of you who have actually helped me I appreciate it.

OH BTW my daughter is 4yrs old.She loved boom boom rocket on the 360
