What should I expect to pay for a 05 WRX STi?

I've been itching for a 2005 WRX STi. what kind of price shoud I expect to pay for this car? I don't want to look stupid when I negotiate. Should I expect to pay @ MSRP? below MSRP? Will I get a better deal if I wait till the introduction of the 2006 model?

If you're dead set on an 05 you should run, not walk to your local dealers. All of the dealers around me are out of 05s and only have 06s now.

There's a dealer locater function on Subaru.com. You should be able to check inventory of your local dealers online from there and see if any near you still have 05s on their lot.

The '06 has been in showrooms for more than a month now. Good luck finding an '05. If you do you should be able to get one for at least $1k under msrp.

oh dang I didn't know the 06 model is already out. Maybe i'll have to look for a used 05 STi. I like the styling of 05 more than 06 model.

the STi is nice, im sure it's sold out in 05 edition...

you do get performance suspension, larger engine, brembo brakes, adjustable HIDs, illuminated dash, and overall sportier car for that 10k....

too much. get a regular wrx for ~10K less.
I don't really mind the regular wrx, but i have a feeing that the stuff i'll end up installing to a wrx will end up costing more than a STi, and besides my fiance likes the STi but not the regular wrx.

In terms of aftermarket, it is worth it, you could easily spend that much buying and installing similiar parts and have no warranty on it.

I was looking at this car tonight, and you can have it for around 33,000. Go to their website and do a dealer locator/quote function and try to play dealers off of each other to get the price lower.

I think edmunds.com will allow you to buy the car online, usually at or under msrp, and pick it up at a local dealer. I don't know though, the last time I heard of this was for a 2002 outback.

yeah, plus you'll get warranty on all those parts. I want a 05 with short throw.

06 STI > 05 STi

The AWD system, suspension, and interior were all improved. The new look is great in person. Very much an improvement over the 05. You should be able to get one for something just a bit above invoice (i.e. less than MSRP). Don't bother getting an 05. They're in demand from people who fear the new look and yet (now being last year's model) have already depreciated. When the fear of the new look goes away (and it will), their values will plummet.

death?

I would give you a more serious/ informed answer but I'm not in the condition so go with Vic's answer (always good).................

The 05 is cursed... 😉 Petter Solberg and a damn rock would know. 🙁
🙁🙁

And yes, I like the new look. IMO it's the first GD-body Impreza that really works from tip to tail. I was at PDX Tuning's open house for their new shop this weekend, and they had a whole bunch of 06's, some already stage 4 modded. One that they're getting ready to drop in a custom-built turbo H6 for SEMA

hmm not bad. I want that Evo-liked opening on the hood

I just wish they would make something aesthetically pleasing for a change. Not that I hate my 04 wrx body style, but I do feel like they could've done better at all the different body stages for the car. The body style I liked the most was the 02-03 in silver :😀rool::
