As I posted in another - unreplied to - thread, I got fired from my job today.
The manager cited no reasons, other than that "I wasn't a good fit for the team." Maybe she was right; I swore off working in retail, but gave REI a shot, since it sounded like a good fit for me. Now I really feel confused. I've worked as a Network Consultant, a Commision Salesperson, a Tech Lead...among other things. I've been about 1/2 balanced between computers and other areas throughout my five year employment history.
I don't know what I want to do, or more accurately, where I want to work. According to her, I'm more than welcome to apply at REI for a different position; I'm considering that, possibly in a different area and under a different manager. I really don't know what to do, though...
I've never had problems with my employers before, and have always been seen as an exemplary employee. This really caught me by surprise.
Currently considering...
Barista (local coffeeshop).
Going back to work at REI.
Trying to get setup with a friend running a department's network.
The big thing I'll miss about REI is the people, and the perks - 30% off regular merchandise, plus the opportunity to order directly from manufacturers for 20-30% off wholesale.
Grr. This is gonna be running through my head for a while. :|
