What should I do?

Here's the situation:

I have an epox mobo with the via kt333 chipset and a XP 2200+ not OC'd.

I'm looking to upgrade either the mobo or the CPU but don't know which to do..

My only thing is that currently my temperature reading is approx. 70*C and I have no idea why. I have talked to people and basicly figured its a problem with the reading from the mobo because I have had no stability problems or anything. I still am a little worried about always having my computer run with a 70 degree CPU. I don't think that moving up to a faster processor would help my temperature problem but I also don't know if it's even a problem!

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
so the question is, should i upgrade the motherboard, or perhaps a new cpu? my friend says upgrade the motherboard, but its not that old, i think a new cpu or more ram would be more worthwhile (512mb now)

Remove the heatsink, clean the cpu and heatsink w/ brake cleaner, apply new thermal grease, reattach, watch your temps drop (hopefully).

Do what John said.

That's not a bad system. I would at least wait until Athlon64 or socket775 P4s are here.

or relax if you're not having any stability problems and the temp doesn't seem to be rising.

Just do what John said. At 70C, you'd likely be having stability problems.

Also, don't upgrade now. I'm running 1800+s, and I can run BF42 just fine. There aren't too many more strenuous games out there. Wait for A64 to be out a while.

I'd use rubbing alchohol (the unscented kind) instead of brake cleaner...but otherwise just wait for the next generation of stuff in 6 months or less.
