Ok so here is where I am at. I am about 75% done with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. I'm trying to decide what emphasis to specialize in. Coincidentally, the emphasis closely correlate with the more traditional engineering jobs (MechE, EE, etc).Link for emphasis categories
Additionally, I am a computer network and systems admin for my university. I am quite skilled in that area. But what should I do degree wise. I would like to have a job that isn't boring and I would like to make a comfortable (~80,000 or more) salary. I really enjoy medicine, but am concerned about time neccessary. If anyone can tell me about their jobs in networking, engineering, medicine etc. that would be great. Even better if you can relate it to my situation. Cheers ATOT!

Be a pharmaceutical rep. they make alot of money. I know a couple of people who have gone into that and they had useless stuff like a major in dance...

finish up your degree, since your emphasis closely correlates to MechE jobs, you'll be able to find something after takign soem of the core ME classes.. or youc an try to find something in your specific field, and be happy with that i'm sure.. 80k is gonna be hard to find right away... but i think you can get that at most engineering fields after a few years

You're getting a degree in Biomedical Engineering and have to ask an Internet forum what you should do with your life? I'll never understand how anyone who's so book smart can be so clueless when it comes to real life.

I guess common sense is in short supply these days.

There's nothing wrong with looking for ideas and other people's opinions.
How is it clueless to ask people for suggestions when you aren't sure what you want to do?

You say "Internet forum" as if it's something negative. Kinda odd for someone with 15k posts.

I sure as hell don't ask people what to do with my life on one. Those are questions for advisors, counselors, parents, girlfriends or others who actually have a stake in the matter. Asking a bunch of random dweebs is not a good idea, IMHO.

I come here for fun, not for career advice.

Bio E is more about engineering than it is about biology. At least that's what I examined in UCLA's BioE program. Why didn't you think of PreMed if you liked medicine so much? Bio E is still like EE except you work on stuff thats designed to have biological applications.
