i have the dell 600m laptop that I've had for 1.5 years
The problems I have are:

the battery no longer holds a good charge. Does dell 600m have 8-cell batteries? I think I have the average 4-cell right now. Was this battery problem expected or did I do something wrong that I need to avoid in the future?
I'm going to get a new battery replacement so no problems with that.

Secondly, the harddrive seems to make weird clicking sounds... but I made a thread discussing that issue earlier so I'll just replace the harddrive when it dies.

Third thing is if I can upgrade to a wireless nic that can do b/g? I'm pretty satisfied with the speed of the b, but my wireless router is compatible with b/g and I would like to take full use of that

Dell website listed the battery for the 600m as being 6 cell (and over 150$ ouch!).

HDD - Just be sure to keep frequent backups of your data if you are going to wait for it to die. And maybe make sure you can find all those dell install discs (for OS), if you haven't made a ghost of your system.

you can probably upgrade to the b/g internal wireless card, just check the dell website for it, there should be 2 versions, the intel/centrino approved one, and the dell one. new 600ms are being sold with these, so there should be no reason why you shouldn't be able to upgrade yours. I believe it is an easily replacable part.
