What should I do with my 120GB Special Edition hard drives? RAID or not?

I just installed a pair of these hard drives, and was wondering what all of you thought of sticking these drives in a RAID, or just leave them standalone.

I'm not too worried about data loss, should one of them fail, I have other means for backup. One thing I came across in looking around is that it may be better to move the swap file to the second drive, but other than that, leave the drives alone. How do I even do that? Do I have to install Windows to the second drive?

Thanks!

If you do photoshop or high memory programs, then RAID would be worth it. If you just use you computer to browse the net, and play games, then it is not worth it.

For the casual user, RAID's not gonna do much. Either sell one or enjoy 240gb of data storage:)

I say you won't notice. I had my HDs striped and only saw much improved benchmark scores for my HDs. As mentioned before, if all you do is play games and use your computer for other, casual, applications, RAID 0 is worthless.

With that said, since you already have 2 of those bad boys, if you don't feel like selling one of them, you might as well stripe them up.

I say you will notice. I have 4 WD1000JBs in RAID-0 and I notice a difference. My programs, games and game levels load much faster, as does video work and pictures.

I'm a very impatient man, and to me RAID-0 does make a difference.

Hmmm... sounds like half of you say it will make a difference, and the other half say no! :)

I think I will go ahead and stripe it, and see what I get. Thanks for the input everyone!
