I just opened some plums in a can and they tasted a little weird, I check the exp. date, Oct 2008 or 9, can't remember. I then turn over the lid and see rust!!! (to think of it, the plums did taste like old screws)
I just had my tetanus shot about 5 years ago, they recommend every 10 years.

What should I do next?

Throw it away and just let the company know

The only food that I've ever eaten from a can are: corn, peas, pineapples, and mandarin oranges (Then again, I'm from California)

the key is whether the can was still sealed when you opened it
you have to listen/feel for the going in when you open a can

as long as it was sealed, don't worry about it

if the can wasn't sealed, you might get botulism

The can was sealed.

I did however find out that it was just some skin of the plum. (I think, it was hard to scrape off)

Still tasted like rust.

I did eat the rest of the plums and most of the juice. (juice tasted like fvcking nails)

I am still going to call the company and demand a lifetime supply of plums, or at least a 100% refund of the plums. :p
