i just got new cpu and mobo. I just changed my cpu and mobo and boot it up. It went fine untill i get blue screen before going in to windows. Even tried safe mode but no luck. Do i have to reinstall windows again? I have gigs of files i want to keep.

Yes you should... this is why you would backup before anything like this happens... next time it might be a hdd failure... kiss all your data goodbye...

If I were you I'd use a boot disk or something like that to back up all of my files *before* reinstalling. Or (and this is the hard way to do it) just put in the old motherboard and cpu, backup, put in the new stuff, and then reinstall.

And as usual, Spyro hits me on top of the head... yeah... back your stuff up before if you can...

You know Spyro, one of these days i will whack you good... 😉

If you're using 2000 or XP, then when you change the motherboard, you will get an INNACCESSABLE_BOot_DEVICE becuase the IDE controller Windows is expecting to use isn't available, and it doesn't know what IDE controller it should be booting to.

If you still have your old motherboard, install that again, you can boot to it, then you can back up any data that you want to keep, as to use the new motherboard you will need to reinstall 🙂
