OK I was walking to the ferry this morning to go to work - where I stepped into an intersection to cross - a car was stopped at a stop sign at that intersection. When I stepped into the crosswalk - he sped up and i flipped over the car - some how landed on my feet relatively unhurt outside of a bruise on my leg from hitting the wheel spinning. He drove away fast - but I ran and got his license plate #. I didn't have anywhere to write it down so I called my fiance and left her a voice mail - and in whatever shock I was in - didn't realize that I said the plate number in the message... I kept repeating the # to remember it but I forgot it.
I walked to the precinct (3 blocks away) and reported the happenings it to the police but had forgotten the plate number by the time I go there so I gave an incomplete plate # - they said that there wasn't anything that they could do - filled out the report - and I went on with my day. They asked if wanted an ambulence - but i didn't need one since all i have is a sore shin.
I got home today and apparently got the full plate # (it was a T&LC plate # and was the correct T&LC format - T######C). I called the precinct with the plate # to add it to my report.
They said to call in a few days with the plate number.
Is that OK that I didn't report the plate # at the time I made the claim? I really do not remember leaving it on my fiance's voice mail. She was unable to check her home phone while she was at work - so she didnt get the message until later.
Anything else that I should do?
I basically want this guy to get what is coming to him.
Cliffs:
- was walking to work - got hit by a car - hit and run - i just had a bruise on my leg miraculously.
- tried to get his plate # - called my fiance - gave her the plate #
- I really don't remember leaving the voicemail for her (shock?) - and apparently left the full plate number on it. (I know - weird)
- I filled out a report - couldn't remember the plate number. Refused an ambulence - wasn't really hurt at all - have a bruise now (11 hours later)
- Got home realized that I have the full plate #.
- Phoned it in to the precinct to add to my report.
- Is this ok? (i supplied the plate # later)
- What should I do?
