What should I buy?

I've been unemployed for 7 months and have not indulged in shopping for quite a while. I just got a new job and a few video gigs so I have $400 or so that I can responsibly spend (after buying thank you gifts for my references and taking my parents and friends out to dinner). What should I get? There?s a poll but here are some explanations.

iPod or similar HD MP3 player ? I have a 10 gig 2nd gen iPod that?s ancient and breaking down. I was thinking of going with the iRiver or new iPod (20 gigger).

LCD monitor ? my 21? sony has some serious screen burn issues. I figure a 17? lcd would do fine. But can you really buy one that?s good enough for video editing for $400?

A Computer upgrade. ? well, I?d take suggestions. I mean, I have a p4 2.4b with 512mb ram and an old school ATI all in wonder. I don?t game so I think I just might get some extra ram. Or a larger hard drive (I have 80 gigs right now).. is there a compelling reason to upgrade the motherboard/cpu?

A fleshlight ? nevermind?

Other ? please make suggestions.

i would go with the ipod. if you can wait it out for the lcd it will pay off big time. they are only going to get better and cheaper. the ipod would be the most useful day to day thing if you like music like I do.

How does the new ipod sound? My 2nd gen's a little tinny and too clinical even using my SR60s. I loved how my old school panasonic portable CD player sounds, any MP3 player with a nice and warm sound?

How about one with an equalizer?

17" is way too small for production work, so either save your money to get a decent 19 incher at least

or get a new video card and HD space.

OTHER:

The cans(headphones) arn't a bad idea.

To be honst, save your damned money. If anything, spend $100 and save $300. invest it or something.
