I'll try to keep this short but it'll be tough. The thing is I don't really know what questions to ask if that makes sense.

I have a Linksys E3000 router...

and a computer with a sapphire HD 6850

This system is in an upstairs room. I want a tv downstairs (something like 50 inches) that will enable me to watch pro starcraft 2 streams (twitch.tv and own3d.tv), videos using vlc media player, as well as youtube videos through firefox. Basically I guess I'm saying I want the tv to act as my monitor does now (?)

I've been researching tvs and I come across terms like wifi, internet ready, lan, dsub, vga, hdmi, wireless, ethernet, NetCast Entertainment Access, Wireless 1080p Ready etc. You get the picture.

If it's not obvious I'm kind of lost. Right now I have comcast internet only but will get an HDTV package after I get the tv. I have a second much older WinXP comp thats available if needed.

Please steer me in the right direction.

the wifi/internet ready only work with specific apps like netflix or hulu
some of them might allow web browser functionality
i don't think most of them can browse the web or a network though

the easiest way is to connect a notebook or computer to the tv, typically by HDMI

if you have an older PS3, you might be able to install linux on it :\

also a wireless hdmi extender might work

they have one that comes with a switch if you want multiple wireless displays

i have no idea how well these work though and it sounds like you'll be working with more distance/walls than the extenders support

too bad intel WiDi doesn't work with desktops yet :(

Easiest, cleanest solution: Get a MacBook and an AppleTV. Connect the Apple TV to any HDTV you'd like and mirror the display on your MacBook wirelessly. Easy, clean, but not cheap. ;)
