What should i ask for this Christmas?

I'm not really into computer cooling, but Xmas is coming up and i want to ask for a new Heatsink/Fan (or just a heatsink if no fan is needed), so i need some advice. Also i need a 120mm fan for getting hot air out of my system, my current one is broken. I've had Computer heat problems for as long as i've had a computer, i've never owned a "cool" computer. Guess that has to do with living in tucson, but my temps are always like 13-15c higher than everyone elses' with the same equip. I'd really like to have a heat-free computer. Even with my computer overclocked, which it will be soon hopefully.

So all i need is:
Heatsink/Fan combo (unless fan is not needed)
120mm outtake fan

Price is not a big issue, I want top notch air cooling though. As for noise, as long as it's not loud enough to be annoying i'll be happy with it. Also, i'm happy with Newegg, SVC, or Zipzoomfly (dunno if they even have cooling parts...), or Sidewinder. Link me up and i'll do the rest, thanks for reading.

Happy holidays :)

Zalman CNPS9500 hands down.

As for the outtake fans, how much noise are you willing to tolerate? Not that it matters much, you'll probably end up with a Panaflo and a Zalman FanMate anyway. :)

Why the Zalman hands down? Seems like a lot of good choices out there.

I had a zalman heatsink before, pretty high end one and it dropped my temps by a total of 1C :p

The scythe ninja is a pretty nice heatsink, and I believe it outperforms the 9500.

Read some of the stickied reviews at the top of the page.
Much depends on your case and the way it's fans are set-up.

Even though they seem worlds apart, the two review sites I find to be most credable are,
Silentpcreview.com and Overclockers.com. Both have very little advertising and don't
hype bling.

Scythe Ninja looks heavy duty...just what i need. Does it work with 939 mobo and opterons? What fan would be good to go with it? Anyone have anything negative to say about it? The more advice the better, thanks folks.

scythe ninja will work with a socket 939 opteron, it can work passively but since you're asking for low temps you'll probably want a fan on there, what fan depends on how cool you want and how much noise you can take.

Negative thing about the Ninja is that if you've got a really shallow case, you can't put the side-panel on (rare though). Oh, and occasionally it's been known to get out of the case, sneak up behind someone in the house, and kill them by katana or with throwing stars. Never piss off a ninja, man.

As long as a fan's noise isn't loud enough to be annoying, it would be ok. Under 40 dba would probably be good though. I'd rather have a nice fan that i could control so when i'm just reading or something online it wouldn't have to do much (and thus be less noisy) but when i'm putting my CPU to the limits i'd like it to be full power. Something like that.

How's the Scythe Ninja compar to the XP-90c? From all the reviews the XP-90c seemed to have better test results, but the Scythe ninja is newer...

The scythe ninja is better then the XP-90(c), its one of if not the best aircoolers on the market, for the fan I'd look at nexus, yate loon, or panaflo and find the one that best fits your requirements, you'll need a fan controller of some sort too, if you want to hear recordings of different fans SPCR has a ton.

Look at me too...Since you are going to use a fan, this HS is 150g lighter and works just as well as the Ninja w/fan. Passive the Ninja tests better. 150g is about the weight of a 120mm fan.

Time to make a decision, think i'm going to go with the Scythe Ninja and this fan here. Any objections? I'm not even sure if htat fan would work with the heatsink, don't know what the difference between 120x25 and 120x38 is...

and"this fan"has no sensor/tach wire.

It clicks/ticks when undervolted. I KNOW !

It has a motor vibration. It rocks side to side setting on a folded towel
when undervolted.

With the Ninja you do not need more than 50cfm. 25 or 38 is how thick the fan is in mm.

If you insist on a Pan, look for a part# ending in BX.

Nononono, that only happens if you install a Scythe Ninja and a Scythe Katana in a dual CPU system - blood feud between brothers can be a nasty affair. The OP has a single CPU system so this wouldn't be a problem.

This is probably a stupid question, but can any fan be used as both an intake and an outtake fan? I'm probably going to get this fan here and it says "these are excellent fans for blow holes or intake fans." If they are good at intake wouldn't they also be good at outtake? I'm going to get two, if i end up getting it at all. One for the heatsink and one for outtake in my case.

That fan looks to be fairly standard so it should work in nearly any configuration.
