What should be my next upgrade?

Well my system I have right now is a 900 Duron with 256 MB's of sdram and Geforce2 MX 32 MB. So I was wondering what my next upgrade should be to keep up with games and run programs better. I've been thinking lately of getting another video card for somewhere around the $100 price range, so maybe a Radeon 8500? Or do you think it would be better for me to go with a new cpu or perhaps better memory, like DDR?

well depending on the motherboard if you were to go for a higher CPU, or DDR ram, you may need a new one. so that would end up costing more than just buying a Radeon 8500.

my mobo is fairly new. I think it can handle the athlons and tbirds up to maybe a little under 2 GHz. I'll try and get the exact numbers though

What games/applications do you normally play/use? Your GF2MX is pretty much the most "compatible" card, performance wise, with your CPU, so probably upgrading either will bring about similar improvements, depending whiat hardware you choose.

I mainly just want it for the games. But I also watch a lot of divx movies which run ok right now, but could be a little better. it kind of seems like i may be in a catch 22 and will have to buy all new components at one time

Might be...but if you had to choose I'd say go for the CPU upgrade first. They usually last quite a bit longer than the 6 month cycle that nvidia enforces on the consumer graphics market.
