What should a Venice 3000+ idle at in Celcius?

what kind of cooling? what are your environment temps? how good is your case cooling? all these will affect the cpu speed at idle or load

Stock cooling. Antec SL1650 with a TT PSU that pulls air out of the case and out the back. MBM5 is reading 20C for the CPU and 40C for the case. Could that be accurate?

I doubt its 20C cooler than the ambient case temperature, but if that 40C "case" is really the northbridge, that's believable.

If 20 is idle that is really low, 40 for the case seems awfully warm...is your room warm? ambient temp shouldn't be that high...I have a winnie 3500 in a stacker and it idles at 33 with the case temp being 4-7...never have i seen the case temp over 10

I use mbm5 also... I have a msi neo plat and I can check the core cell temps against the mbm5 temps and the core cell temps usually run abut 4 to 5 degrees higher...thats par for the course though for those boards...

really dont see how u can have a 20 idle and a 40 in your case...if anything it would be the other way around...

it looks like you have the wrong sensors set for MBM5. it would seem like your cpu temp would be the 40c one. not 20. that sounds like case.

Exactly. If you are using air cooling the object cooled cannot be cooler than the air surrounding it.

As for 40C seems right on for a TT cooler. With an XP120 or a Zalman i wouldn't count out 5C drop though. The computer is running absolutely fine.
