What settings to use for Freesync Monitor with GeForce?

I just switched to a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti from an AMD Fury R9 but I kept my 27" 1440p FreeSync monitor. I've read where this setup will work great but I'm foggy on how I should configure it for default gaming. Should I disable the FreeSync feature on the monitor? Should I keep Vsync disabled on games and enable FastSync on the Nvidia Control Panel?

Any thoughts or personal experience would be appreciated.

Yes, if it's one of those 144 hz monitors that support 40-100 hz freesync, then simply set it to freesync off and run 144hz.

You disable v-sync entirely, as vsync sucks.

After that, you enable Fast Sync if you don't care about judder and care about tearing.

You disable Fast Sync if you don't care about tearing and care about judder.

Here is a simple video that explains Fast Sync

And for future reference, don't bother asking real questions about Nvidia anything on these forums, it's a wholly owned subsidiary of AMD.

Nvidia G-sync doesn't work without a corresponding monitor. Free-Sync won't work without an AMD video card. That leaves adaptive and v sync . Use them or not based on trial and error.
Ignore the moron claiming a bias here.

uh, what? Go away.

OP:
I'd give Fast Sync a shot. It turns on and off Vsync as appropriate. You wont be able to use FreeSync since nVidia doesnt support it

Hey, thank you both for the responses. Very helpful on all accounts.

So I went and watched and agree it seems the best bet is simply to disable FreeSync on the monitor. Should I have a game that manages to go over 144 fps, is it worth specifying a frame rate limit in the control panel?

If that happens use Vertical Sync if you can live with the input lag.

If input lag is more important to you, then you do not want to limit framerate, as more framerate results in less input lag even if it's higher than your refresh rate. And the more framerate the less noticeable tearing will be.

Though your GPU will use more wattage drawing these extra frames of course.

Also if you prefer Vertical Sync you can change the refresh rate and V-Sync it on more demanding games. The panel should be able to run at 100Hz, 60hz, etc.
