I am rebuilding again because it is time if you look at my sig. What mixture of settings would you guys recommend for Crysis with the new setup and at what resolution? I am hoping to run most at high or above if the frame rates will stay playable. Hopefully this is enough computer to make the game look nice. I played the demo on the system in my sig and it looked just like old far cry. Here is what I have:

Q6600-going to overclock to modest 3.0ghz
4 gb ram
8800 GT-modest overclock
Vista 64 bit

Also, is it better looking to run higher settings at lower resolution or lower settings at higher resolution?

Depends... if you like the bells and whistles, lower resolution. If you like smooth/crisp visuals, higher resolution. NO card can do AA in this game right now, so higher resolution is the best alternative. The 8800gts i'm using can play the game smoothly @ 1920x1080- it looks AMAZING on my 1080p 37" westy at that resolution.

My first run though was at 1280x720 almost all high settings - it only struggled in massive firefights (especially the final fight).

I'm playing through again now on the delta difficulty in 1080p - mostly medium settings.

IMO... i prefer medium with higher resolution. All the small effects that get turned down arent very noticeable after a while, but the crispness of the larger resolution really is.

Run #1- DX10 1280x1024 AA=2x, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 27.5
Run #1- DX10 1280x1024 AA=No AA, 32 bit test, Quality: Medium ~~ Overall Average FPS: 38.81

playing the full version.

x2 4400+ @ 2.65Ghz
8800gt evga SC @ modest overclock
2gigs ram

(each run was ran 3 times using crysisbench...I think that's what it's called)
Been playing the game at 1280x1024 with 2x AA and quality = high...just fine

I guess I should say that I've only played the game for about 15-20 min...just to *gaze*

Been playing cod4 too much : P

I have a similar system to yours, nitro28, and the game was great @ 1280x960, no AA, all other settings high. It did get pretty sluggish at some points near the very end, but overall it was pretty good.

i get around 30 FPS avg. playing at 16x12 with all settings at high except shadows and post processing, which are at medium.
Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz
Abit IP35E
EVGA 8800 GTS 640 @ 620/2000
2 GB Ballistix PC6400 RAM
Win XP
169.09 beta drivers - yields about 1-2 FPS increase over 163.75

I tried doing some the dx10 tweaks. But it brings my FPS down to 24.
