What settings do you use in EAC?

I just started using EAC and am having trouble figuring out what the best settings are. I've installed the LAME 387dll and the .bat and .exe files in the program's folder, so that is the encoder i am using.

I wanted to try using VBR so I set it at 128VBR and in the lame DLL options I set the quality to voice quality a maximum VBR of 256 and a VBR quality of 1.

The weird thing is that when I am watching the bitrate on winamp it pretty much stays at 128 through the song while going to 160 once and a while. If I set it to 160VBR and keep the rest the same it stays at 160. Is there something I am missing here?

Also, when I used to use WinDAC with the lame encoder plugin I would rip mp3s at around 7-8x while with EAC it does it at 3-3.5x. Is there a way I can speed it up?

Any tips and what settings do you prefer? Don't be afraid to go into details. :D

Try here for answers to your questions. EAC is going to be slower than other ripper-encoders but you will get higher quality mp3s. Good luck.

I've read that page about 50 times but I am looking for more details and users opinions.
