What settings do you run Vice City at?

Hi,
Ive just got Vice City this morning, and have been fiddling around with gfx options.
Upto now, i find that 1280x1024@max w/max view distance, and 2xFSAA/8xAF is perfect.
Anyone running it at that res with 4xFSAA or 6xFSAA and/or 16xAF?

My system is as follows.
AMD AthlonXP1800@stock
768mb PC133 memory
Sapphire9700pro@Stock w/cat 3.1

Oh, and, this game rules. The gfx are so smooth compared to gta3, and the animations are great. I like the little touches like being able to shoot out tyres or shoot through windows.

1.4 AMD
~650MB PC133
Geforce4 4200 (128MB)

I run 1024 x 768 x 32 w/ 2xAA
the draw distance is at the max

-but-

Something on my comp is screwey. I can out run the graphics if i am going fast. I have to stop and wait for the objects to load. Has anyone else had this problem? I downloaded the newest driver for my card yesterday and nothing? Direct X is also up to date. Do you think that is a function of slow memory?

game's installed in first rig in my sig at 16x12 with everything turned all the way up and get 60 fps (frame limiter off, vsync off, max view distance). with everything turned down for max performance I'm getting 120fps. Everything looks very fluid and smooth. Will probably tweak to some balance of performance and IQ. Had to rollback my display driver back to Cat3.1 from Cat3.2 after experiencing freezes after winxp informed me to be related to the display driver. Havent experienced a freeze since.

I've seen that happen on the PS2 version. Only things I can think of are HD speed and memory speed to alleviate the problem. It was very annoying on the PS2 because sometimes the wait time was relatively significant, and you weren't sure when you'd be back in the game again. Then unexpectedly you are back and going 90+mph, and when not concentrating on steering that can lead to some messy motorcycle accidents.

I haven't picked up my PC Vice City copy yet, but I don't intend to try anything beyond 1024x768.

I have the WD800JB which is supposed to be fast, but i do have SLOW memory. The prob is not loading times but i just outrun all the objects.

under the settings menu, scroll your mouse while over the resolution numbers and click your mouse once you have picked the pne you want.

I'm running 1280x1024x32 with no AA/AF on a GF4Ti4400. (I usually play UT2K3 and can't sacrifice frames for detail I'm moving too fast to care about.) I got the draw distance at Max and occasionally notice what looks like mipmap swapping as buildings "reskin" themselves. A weird detail is when you go into the hotel, you see hidden items and objects draw themselves before the level has loaded. Odd.

1152x864x32 with max view distance. I could probably turn on AA or up the res a notch.

Tbird @ 1387MHz (198FSB)
512MB PC2700 @ 198MHz CAS2.5
GF3 Ti200 @ 225/515

I tried 1600x1200x32 but that got a tiny bit jerky with the view distance maxed.

UPDATE: I switched to 1024x768x32 w/Quincunx AA and 2X AF and it's smooth running and looking.

One bad thing, when I tried turning off the frame limiter, I had all sorts of slowdown, texture craziness (I drove up on a terrace and suddenly, the POOL textures appeared! Whoa!) culminating with a BSOD/STOP error requiring a reboot. No good.

ya and you have to do it prior to starting a game.

oh and i am running 1280x960 x6aa x16qaf on my 9700pro with the frame limiter off, but in win98 compatablity mode which fixes the drawing issue that rjcoolpix880 mentioned.

1024 x 768, 32bit colour, 4x AA, 8x AF. Game runs smooth as silk on the 9700 Pro with the new Cat 3.4s.

1600x1200 with 6xAA and 16x AF, max draw distance.
It runs silky smooth.

P4 2.4b
512mb PC2700
9700 Pro

This game almost requires some AF, the shimmering textures are just horrible!

Reliant, what sort of fps do you get? Does it ever drop below 30fps? Any situations where it goes laggy?
I was thinking of upping my settings to 4xFSAA and 16xAF, but i dont know if my system would keep up with the video card.

Well, i got bored waited for a reply from reliant, so i decided to run it for myself.
1280x1024@max draw distance & 32bit colour.
6xFSAA & 16XAF. smoothness in a glass.
It looks dam good.

Before, with the frame limiter on, i got a constant 28fps, and with it off 70-90fps.
Now, with the new settings, i get a constant 28fps with an occasional drop to 27fps, and about 40-50fps with frame limiter off.

I`m going to drop the FSAA to 4x, so then it`ll constantly stay at 28fps, even with lots of action.
