What settings do you run HL2 at ?

Hi I'm running an a64 3500+ at 2.4ghz 2x512mb sticks at 438Mhz and a 6800gt at 380/1000.

i run hl2 at 1600x1200 everything high, reflect all, no vsync, 8xaf, and 2xaa it runs fairly well, but to be honest this is THE first game where I notice some mild..... 🙁 jerks here and there at these settings. Than again this is the best looking game I have ever seen. Doom 3 get flushed

I think the slight lagging is caused by autosaves. A lot of people complaining.

OH yea, settings. 1024x768, high on everything, reflect world, 2xAA 8x AF. Running a64 3500 1gb memory, X800 pro

Unless your monitor doesn't support a higher resolution, you should be able to play at 1600x1200 with the same specs. I am, and your A64 should be running quite a bit faster than my 3.2ghz Northwood. The rest of my specs are in my sig.

I am playing at 16x12, everything on high, 2xAA 8xAF, getting 35 to 70 fps.

1152x864 / 6800GT / everything high detail with reflect world / 4xAA / 8x AF

slow at loading new level to a degree but a couple patches should speed that issue up.

A64 3200+ @ 2.47GHz, BFG 6800GT @ stock, 1GB PC3200 CH-5

I run at 1600x1200, 4xAA/8xAF, everything set to high and reflect all. Runs great most of the time. I have a few framerate dips every now and then, mostly only noticable when I was in the airboat level when standing high above everything. Looking out into the distance with the water reflecting below would take my frames down to around 10 or 15 (my guess), but this is the only time I get issues. Other than that, it's been beautiful.

Did you try setting your heapsize to 512MB?

CPU: AMD AMD64 3000+ 2000MHz
Motherboard: MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R
Memory: 1024 MB of Geil DDR PC-3200
Video Card: Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Flashed to XT OC'ed to 450/744
Hard Drive: Seagate SATA 120.0 GB 7200 RPMS
Monitor: KDS-USA 17-SX

1280x1024, all high, reflect world, no AAxAF. runs great except for some stutters. but i just got 512 more RAM, bringing my sys to 1 gig, so that might make the stuttering go away. i'll edit this post later.

CPU : AMD 2500+ @ 3200+
Motherboard : A7N8X-X
Memory : Corsair XMS 512mb PC2700@3200
Video: Radeon 9600 Pro 256 (400/200)
Hard Drive: Western Digital 80 gig SE

Settings : 1024x768 @ medium settings, reflect world, trilinear filter, no FSAA at average of 50fps.

Right now:
AXP1800+ Palomino at Stock
Shuttle AK35GT2
768 MB PC2100 DDR
BFG GeFore 6800 NU OC
Seagate Barracuda IV 2 MB Cache (the load times are KILLER)
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
Viewsonic VP171B

1024x768, all high, 4XAA, 8XAF. Some slow down due to processor (I'll upgrade that during winter break)

Well. I was using a XP 2100+ with my NF7-S, but when i bought Half-Life 2 yesterday they had a deal on a 2400+ Sempron so I picked it up and slapped it in. Not sure if I am really gonna gain any performance from that move or not. But I am running 1024x768 with no FSAA, trilinear, high everything except for reflect which i have set to the lowest setting. Runs fine except for the damned stutter every 3-3.5 minutes. Irritating as hell.
Question: Am I better off with my old 2100+ or should i stick with the new 2400+ Sempron. I have heard mixed things. I havent triend to overclock the Sempron yet but my 2100+ was rock solid stable at 166x12.5. Suggestions or thoughts anyone?

-Whoops forgot to name the vid card: Radeon 9800Pro 256mb

2.8Ghz P4 with AIW 9700 Pro; 1 Gig RAM, 74GB raptor HD, and it WAS running fine at 12x16, until I hit a couple of interior levels with many AI enemies. Now I have it at 1280 (LCD) setting (though 12x16 is my LCD's default) and it's run fine.
anand's preliminary review has been pretty spot on, I think. CPU crazy intensive at points. But 9700 still holding up fine with this game (which makes me pretty goddamned pleased, as Doom3 wasn't as hot)
