What settings do you run Doom3 at?

I see alot of "timedemo" threads, but i'm just curious as to what everyone runs it at when actually playing the game. I'm trying to figure out the best visual experience, while attaining smooth gameplay.

Rig - AthlonXP 2500+ @ 3200+ 2.2ghz
1ghz PC3200 - 2-2-2-5 200mhz
NF7-S V2.0
BFG6800GT OC @ 400/1100 (Ultra)
Nvidia 61.77

Tweaks...

seta image_useCache "1"
seta image_cacheMegs "256"
seta image_cacheMinK "20480"

Settings

1600x1200
Ultra Quality
2x AA

It sometimes hitches and stutters when loading a new area, but after that inital-"hitch", its completely smooth. Nothing that really bothers gameplay. It looks beautiful! Most of the time it runs at 50-60, but sometimes when fighting an enemy, it drops to 30-40.

For references sake, timedemo1 1 says 50.6fps, lowest fps I managed to see from the FPS counter was 28fps.

Well, what do you run it at?

I've been playing at:
1600x1200
High
x16 AA

A64 3000+
1GB DDR400 @ crappy timings
Gainward "Golden Sample" @ 400/1100
61.77

Haven't used any tweaks yet.

The timedemo showed a horrible framerate, like 10FPS, even though the game plays perfectly smoothly. I'll probably try it without the AA and see what it gets.

Whats the first and 3rd tweaks mess with?

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro @ 450/780
ATI Catalyst 4.9b

seta image_cacheMegs "384"

Yeah...what do the first and third tweaks do?

Haha, great.

I really should use my Alcohol 120% software and save it to my disk so it'd run even better. Hopefully it'll lower my load times. I should also get a Raptor and store all of my games on it, that should help load times quite a bit I would think.

High Quality 1280x1024 no AA/AF v-sync on. It will run perfectly fine at 1600x1200, but I really can't tell the difference on this game (it's like 50% blackness), and I like to leave a little bit of room for the action scenes and the v-sync takes up a few fps, but gets rid of the tearing.

Doom3 apparently looks for cd emulation software. The first time I tried to run it, it refused saying that it detected cd emulation software. I uninstalled CloneCD, and it works without a hitch. Not sure if I have Alcohol 120% installed or not (I had to uninstall it to get sp2 to install, not sure if I re-installed or not yet)

1280*1024 2aa, 8AF , High Quality

Multiplayer I have to bring it down to 1024*768, 0AA, 8AF. Multiplayer is a hog, especially if more than 2 people are going after you at the same time.. A 16 player DM will bring any system down to its knees..

I was able to use Alcohol to rip it to the hard drive no problem. I don't notice any difference though. Of course it was already running just fine at 1600x1200 on high with x16 AA, so its not too likely I'll notice much of a difference.

I was ripping all of my games that I'll play fairly often to the hard drive and something kinda weird happened. I had ripped UT2K4 without any problems (in fact it was the fastest rip i've done) on a previous system, but when I did this one it was pretty slow. Also, when I went to play it it said something about a copy of the game and to use the original disc. I'm guessing it was a bad rip.'

I'll have to check my timedemo now that I've got the Ultra speed bugs worked out. Also, I'll try those cache tweaks and see how much it improves. They don't cause any IQ loss do they?

I think D3 looks AWESOME at these settings! It plays liquid smooth too, and I've been in some SERIOUS fire fights. :)
