What secondary card can I use for SLI?

So I'm looking for a secondary 8800 card to run in SLI with my Asus 8800gts 640mb. I'm not sure exactly how this works though. Since the ram on the secondary card isn't used in SLI wouldn't it be wisest to just pick up an 8800 320mb version and save myself a few $$$ or must I get the 640mb?

If you get the 320mb card, you will only have 320mb to use (it defaults to the lowest card).

I'm not so sure SLI-ing GTS'es is a hot option at this point. The GTS is way overpriced.

That defaulting to the lowest memory is a shitty deal.
My GTS oc's 700/2000+. She holds her own against the GT & GTX just fine. 🙂

Not enough. Dude in another thread just got $500 for his GTX. Perhaps he could be our broker. :light:

Perry404, you'd want to find a matching 640 MB GTS, as the 320 MB doesn't really have enough vRAM for newer games.

If you look around, you could likely find a pretty decent deal on a used GTS 640 MB.

I know i was looking on RFD today to see what people were selling their GTXs for, & while right now they're a bit too high, if you wait a few weeks to a month or two, we'll be able to buy used GTS/GTXs to add for SLI for very cheap i think.

Looks like that's what I'll be doing since the system defaults to the card with the lowest ram. The 640mb cards are going for about $300 now and the 320mb flavors $220.
