What SCSI Adapter do I need for a Plextor CDRW and CDRom SCSI?

Title says it all. I just bought a Plextor 12x10x32 SCSI and Plextor 40X SCSI CDRom and I don't know what would be the best adapter for this combo.

Thanks,
MK

Just about any Ultra-SCSI or FastSCSI will do. I have a Diamond Fireport20 for sale for $20+shipping that'll be perfect for you combo since I've been using my UltraPlex40+Plextor4x12+PioneerDVD and never have any problems with it. I'm planning on getting the new Plextor burnproof next week. Where did you find yours' and how much did you pay for it? LMK if you're interested in the card.

I'm using an Adaptec 29160 with that combination and absolutely no hiccups whatsoever. The 29160 may be overkill if those devices are the only SCSI in your system. I have a couple of U160 hard drives so it's perfect for my purposes. The Adaptec 19160 might be the one for you. That's if you decide to go with the Adaptec product line.

I have a fairly similar setup to yours (Plextor 40X and Plextor 4x12 CD-R). I originally used a Fireport 20, but I found that I had trouble booting off of CDs with it (it worked great for everything else, though). I replaced the Fireport with an Adaptec 2930 and I haven't had any problems since. Any Ultra 160 card (including the 19160) would be massive overkill for just CD-ROM drives.

Any Fast-SCSI2 controller will work. CDROM's are only narrow devices... I use an Adaptec 2906...not bootable, but otherwise okay.

Adaptec 2930C is a good card. It came in the box with the Plextor drives that were sold under the Imation name, which is what I have.
