What screenshot program do you guys use?

Been searching for something quicker than print screen and paint and then manually uploading to imgur if I wanted to link a graph or something on P&N.

Imgur has a list of apps on their website. I downloaded and tried ShareX. Pretty nifty program. You can screenshot of different ways (fullscreen, window, monitor, region, etc... even record) and it will automatically upload to a wide selection of hosting sites.

Any others I should try before hunkering down on ShareX!?

Snipping Tool -> Paint.net
PrintScreen (if I want a menu) -> Paint.net

I guess I rarely want to share something enough to use a program specific to sharing.

printscreen or alt-printscreen (for a single window) and then I use FastStone Image Viewer to edit because it's easy and quick. I don't really see a way to upload through it though.

FastStone also has a capture program at the link above.

Snipping tool, it's amazing how few people know about it. I see a bunch of clients with some malware screenshot program and they've never heard of snipping tool that works better.

Windows snipping tool for most things. Print screen for some Adobe reader stuff. Adobe has this nasty habit of raising the bottom toolbar into view when using the snipping tool.

I also use Irfan view for photo related tasks like batch conversion or rename. Especially useful for organizing photos or downsizing photos for transmission to clients or whatever.

Irfanview supports FTP upload but that's it.

Usually Alt+PrintScreen to capture only the window with focus.

[Win]+[R] to open the Run menu.

"mspaint" [Enter] to launch Microsoft Paint

[Ctrl]+[E] to open the size dialog.
[1] [Tab] [1] [Enter] to set the size as 1x1
[Ctrl]+[V] to past the screenshot.

If I only need a part of the screenshot, I crop appropriately.

I'm a heavy one note user and "Windows key + S" = screen shot utility. Saves it to clipboard and you can paste it wherever. Or save it directly to a onenote page.

The one with OneNote. We have Office 365 at work so we get OneNote, and it includes a snipping tool (default key should be Win-S).

At home I just use Print Screen.

Win-Shift-S on Windows 10. That is the native Windows snipping tool with OneNote triggering it via shortcut. Hotkey / screengrab / paste into imgur.com (Control+V works from the main screen, without clicking anything at all) is the fastest way I've found to upload anything.

Print Screen, ctrl+v in Paint (mainly because it's second nature to get to mspaint using 'run') or GIMP or Photoshop, depending on what computer I'm on and if I need to edit the screenshot much.

I use Snagit at work since I have to take a lot of screenshots and my work pays for a license.

At home, I just use PrintScreen then Paint

Try Greenshot and just select Upload to Imgur

Just curious, why does anyone need to take screenshots that often
Dear [Old Person],

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your email. In order to do what you're asking, you will need to click this button here.

[Insert PNG image with big old red circle around button they should click.]

That should fix the issue.

See you soon,

Your loving niece/nephew/cousin/grandchild/etc.

You, dave,

Can you throw a hotsheet together for how to do basic reporting in the new ticket tracking system you installed? The online documentation sucks and we need a one-pager for the incoming interns. The nontechnical managers would probably like a slightly fleshed out version too. Otherwise they're going to threaten to make us move to [different-ticket-tracking-system-that-has-a-flashier-demo-and-sales-team] and we just got done migrating to this one, so that would be a disaster.

Need it by Monday,
dave_the_nerd's BOSS

etc.
