1152x864 at 85Hz, 32bpp on my ancient (7 year old) Iiyama Vision Master 17 (17 inch screen, duh). On my server, I use 1024x768 at 85Hz, 32bpp with a Gateway EV700, since my parents use that box for web browsing, and 1152x864 is a little bit too small for that.

I don't like the squished image you get when running 1280x1024
That's what 1280x960 is for.

I used to be on 800x600 on the 17" cuz my dad had it at that. But after making the switch, he was ok with it, and of course, I was too. In fact, I'd do 1152x764 on my 17" but the refresh is only 75hz at that res so I leave it on 1024x768@85hz now.

While I usually use 1280x960x32 @60Hz on my 17" flatscreen, I'm currently using a friend's monitor for two months while he's away at some camp somewhere. I'm using a nice big 21," although it isn't flatscreen and it's an old Dell with some crap on the face and a few marks on the glass. But now I'm running 1600x1200x32 @72Hz which is the most this baby will take. I'm planning on buying a new monitor similar to this one within the next month or so.

How did you get 85Hz? At this res (Visiontek GF2 GTS/Pro 32MB) my monitor won't go over 75Hz! :( Not that I guess I could really tell anyway...
