I see a bunch of businesses with multiple trees in their lobby....why?

went to a friends house..same thing...

I have none, because we don't celebrate xmas, but I'd like an explaination for this...it just seems like a waste to me...

my folks need several just to handle all the ornaments they have.

why? my mom teaches dance lessons. she gets a couple dozen ornaments from her students every year. I think she has multiple copies of every ballet shoe ornament ever invented.

as for businesses, I bet they probably just want to look festive.

I know some people put a tree in a front window for people driving by to see, and another in their living/family room for the family to enjoy. Seems dumb to me, but then it's really no worse than putting lights on the outside of your house.

Aesthetics.

Someone thought it would look good.

Do you not agree?

As is most anything done purely for the sake of appearence.

Some enjoy it, some pay it no heed, others complain.

Myself, I enjoy it.

To each his own.

May you find enjoyment elsewhere.

heh. my mom has 5 christmas trees :Q

3 are 4' tall trees for the front windows. 1 is a 6' tall tree for the dining room. the "official" tree is a ~10' tall tree in the parlor. the parlor tree is the only real tree; the rest are artificial and put there for aesthetic reasons.

Christmas trees are pretty. One pretty thing is good, two pretty things are better.

because its just more decoration, and when it comes to christmas you really can't have too much decoration.

I've got 3 - the 'main' one in the den. a small 6 footer in the basement/entertainment area and a smaller 5 footer on the balcony upstairs.

nope, just someone seeking some understanding

I just think 1 big tree with a bunch of presents under it is better than 5 little ones :)

I've never understood it either. Our next door neighbor has 5. You can see 3 of them from the front of the house and their daughter and son each have a tree in their bedroom.

Failover. If the primary tree stops responding, yuletide packets can be routed to the hot spare.

Symmetry. With only one tree the room would be dangerously unbalanced!

Because Christmas is just that cool ;-)

We will have a grand total of 4 trees at our house including the huge one in the family room, the one in the dining room, the one in the basement, and the one in the large glass window over the front door...
