Gentleman & Ladies !
I am trying to upgrade a dell 4500 2MHZ , anyone know what FSB I have, is it 400 ? The ram is DDR2700
The upgrade will be a new chipset. Which Mboard do I have and how high can i go ? a Geek techie at Bbuy told me 2.53MHZ, is this possible ? I want to retain my Mboard, my ram is 512 and I will go to 1G. All this for one game ! though it is D3. 1 Thanks a million for you help , in advance....

Not to come down overly hard on you when you've just arrived, but you don't go and post variants of the same topic in three (or more) sections of the Forum simultaneously. :) Just a tip. I replied to your General Hardware thread already and that would be a good place for your question if you're not sure.

Bottom line, you have a Dell Dementia 4500 and you should sell it whole, and build your own rig :D Consult the bottom link in my signature for a run-through of building a 100% standard ATX-form-factor computer. :)

Heh, I think it's a first time thing, don't worry man, everyone answer's posts :). The thing is you CANT get the same comp built for you for the same price as building it yourself. You save hundreds by building your own comp, not to mention you can customize it and build it the way you want and would use it. There's so many advantages to it.

The chipset is on your mobo. So you can't change chipsets and keep the same mobo.

As far as what FSB you have, well I don't know for sure, but it's not 400 if you have pc2700 ram (that's 166/333 FSB). Prolly 333 FSB.

A good place for you to start might be trying to figure out what each of your current components is: cpu (celeron or P4, if P4 which model), ram (which you already know), vid card and mobo. After compiling this list, you could get good info on what component could be upgraded and how performace increase you would gain from said upgrade.

Be wary of BB techies suggestions. I've heard some questionable stuff from that "source". Your way better off following mechBgon's advice.

the easiest way to fid what you have is to download sisoft sandra (or if you don't have a fast internet connection, get WCPUID- google will help you find either). It will tell you your current CPU info. Sandra will also tell you your motherboard chipset info which will give us your potential upgradablility.

One thing to mention is that people won't respond if you don't give enough info and most of us don't know off the tops of our heads what dells have what in them so we need more basic info. If you want to know basic upgradability stuff, you could go to the Dell forums. They are excellent for basic info.

/edit:
and not to beat on you too much, but your thread topic is to see what your mobo is and you don't know what your CPU is. Try to get your topic headings to match what you want to know.

/edit2:
oh yeah, it's GHz, not MHz. 1GHz=1000MHz
