I have one of those original P4 laptops with a desktop cpu stuffed inside it runs way to hot and will burn my leg if im not careful would a Celeron run any cooler? heck I'd be glad to stuff a 2.4ghz celeron or higher if they ran cooler than the P4 2ghz 400fsb 512k cache. any ideas thoughts etc?

I doubt it would run any cooler. I mean, in theory, yes it might be a tiny bit cooler...but in reality they're probably pretty much equal. I've never heard of anyone *downgrading* a P4 to a Celeron, but I guess there's a first time for anything.

If you MUST have a cool laptop, go buy a Centrino, they are the kings of low-voltage and cool runnings ATM.

I agree. However that Celeron is probably pretty equal to the P4 (not sure if its a revision A or not). If it is original non revision A the celeron MIGHT run faster because of the P4's lack of asynchronous caching. But as for temperature, there is probably no difference. Like Sickbeast said if you want cool and awesome performance spring for a laptop that uses the centrino technology.

yeah i just looked up the thermal outputs of the CPU's on intels web site and a 2ghz celeron is the same as a 2ghz P4 oh well. My wife uses it to cruise the web around the house a P4 is overkill by far.
