What resources should TV-out be using?

x800xl
a64 3000+
1GB RAM
pvr 250btv
audigy2zs
crazy harddrives (good thing...1.4TB;))

software:
winxp pro sp2
btv4 trial

Using 2001fp @ 1600x1200 via DVI
Using TV @1024x768 via s-video

Using Extended desktop everything is choppy with Beyond TV.
using cloning and setting BTV to overlay makes video smooth, but I only get overlay material displayed on the TV...no menus.
Why overlay works is understandable, but not very practical.

HD Video (720p, 1080i) is borderline choppy for some reason.

In addition, I am using Beyond TV, and as soon as I drag the window to the tv screen must starts stuttering, and the entire system gets very laggy, with the cpu at a minimum of 80%.

Once on the TV, the responsive is horrid, with 3dacceleration proving unusable.

Any ideas?

Through SVideo, you don't ACTUALLY run a resolution higher than 640x480 on NTSC and 720x576 on PAL. If you set the graphics engine to something higher, it needs to interpolate and scale down before pushing it out the SVideo channel. Just bring the engine resolution down to what is actually being output, and load shall be much lower.

Set the TV output as the 'primary' monitor. You don't get full 3D acceleration or proper video overlay support on it otherwise. If you try to run BTV on the 'secondary' display, it will not work well.

I definitely agree, but I though "3d accelerated mode" bypassed overlay.....I don't know how...but something like that?
