What resolution/colour depth/refresh rate do you use?

15" Optiquest V55 and Voodoo Banshee's the hardware, the resolution is 1024x768 at 85Hz in 32 bit colour (most of the time) but I often pop into 1280x1024 at 60Hz (also 32 bit), but the flicker gets to me, so I don't stay there too too long.

So what do you guys use? And what monitor/video card do you have also.

BTW, mine does 122Hz in 640x480, I think

Paulson?!? You have a 19" trinitron do you not? Are you legally blind or something?? ;) A 19incher such as yours is wasted at 1024x768 IMHO.

(btw: 1600x1200x32@87Hz on a 19" trinitron)

1024x768 | 16bit | 85Hz | 19" CTX VL950S | Viper V770 32MB
800x600 | 16bit | 75Hz | 14" Packard Bell | Velocity 128 4MB <--flickers like mad

I'd run the 19" at 1152x864, but anything higher than current brings on a pretty bad moire pattern which I can't get rid of, and which annoys the crap out of me. I've also got pretty bad eyesight (don't wear my glasses a lot of the time), and I lean back most of the time so I'm about 2 feet away from the monitor. 1152 is about the highest I can go before text and icons gets too small to read (comfortably)from my usual position.

The other thing about higher resolutions is that a lot of sites on the Web are designed for lower resolutions. The forums for instance. If I go to a higher resolution, this input box doesn't stay the same size. It gets relatively smaller because it's set to be a specific width in pixels, not a specific size relative to your resolution. So at one resolution it might be 6 inches wide, but at the next highest resolution it's only 4 inches wide. The same amount of text fits into it because the text is also smaller, but that's just a HUGE waste of screen space. And I can't stand having things positions in non-maximized windows most of the time, so I can't shrink the window to use the space for something else.

1152x864x32bit/Cl Annilator SDR/Sceptre 17in/75hz

I'd go even higher but text can only be enlarged so much before you lose real estate;)

1280x1024x32-bit / 85Hz on NEC FP950 and Annihilator Pro.

I love this monitor, but I hated it yesterday when we moved -- 65 #$%^ lbs.

1600x1200x75Hz @ 16Bit Color on a Gem 19" Monitor driven by a Voodoo3 2000 AGP.

Damn fine 2D if you ask me. I'd use 32bit color, but the 2D speed seems to take a drop at that high of a setting. I prefer lightning fast 2D.

sharkeeper:

Your sig almost made me piss my pants. I just heard that song a couple of days ago and it has to be the funniest thing I've ever heard. The funniest part about it is that they try to sound so rough and ghetto-style at the beginning and then the actual verse is almost like a cross between latin and rasta. :D Oh man that's funny, thank you. :D:D
