I have a ATI 9500 Pro and was wondering what resolution can I run CS 1.6 Steam and still maintain full fps (I believe it is 100fps??). I'm currently running at 1024x768 and OpenGL.

full fps is 60, unless you're superhuman or have a tendency to turn around VERY fast. I get pegged at maxfps on a geforce2 gts at 1024x768, so i'd bet you could go pretty high. why don't you try?

You should be able to run it very high with full fps you should try trial and error but i dont see a reason to run it higher than1024x768

You can set

max_fps 100

To get 100 fps. That's as high as CS will run though.

It really depends on your settings though. I ran it at 1280x1024 on my GF2 GTS and it was pegging off of 100 almost constant (long open areas with people and smoke made it drop down to 30). On the other hand, my new R9800 Pro can sit at 50 fps if I have truform, 16x aniso, 4x quality FSAA, etc etc etc on.

What I would do in your situation is go for 8x aniso, 2x FSAA and run 1280x960. That should give you decent solid framerates and quality.

Max frames is 100. It might be lower if you use vsync + monitor with <100hz refresh rate. I can get 100fps at 1024x1024 with 4xFSAA, 16xAF.

I do 1280x1024 because I have an LCD, but I'm sure it could do 1600x1200 no problem.

Turn up the eye-candy and go cl_weather 3, it makes de_aztec look pretty :)
