I've always wondered and when I try to search on google, I just keep getting TV's as results and LCD displays and stuff.

ANyone have a link to more information on it or know the answer?

Most movies are filmed... so there is no "resolution".

Only recently have some movies been recorded digitally-- most notably Star Wars Episode III. It was shop in 1080p (1920x1080). It was then converted to film for distribution to most non-digital movie theatres.

did they post-processing effects in like motion-blur and whatnot?

I read an article a while back about archiving movies and that it requires 4K resolution to do it with no loss of quality. Someone actually just asked this same question on AVSForum a few days ago.
